about

I wrote this song about a month or so before taking a long road trip from Pittsburgh to Terlingua, TX to attend an aircrete workshop. It encapsulates my feelings about why I pursued this in spite of the possible danger of the draconian and unnecessary rona lockdown but also expresses the other concern of potential isolation and loneliness living in a remote off-grid place. I'm glad I went!

lyrics

One last road trip within this strange world
To acquire skills to break free of its hold
Then it's off to the parallel world
Forever! A denizen in the parallel world would you....

Dwell with me
We are free
Dwell with me

Stormy seas forever in turmoil
Only more dissonant as time goes by
Churned on and on and on by the loyal members
Loyal members of the eternal coverup
So it's off the island for one last shipwreck!
Off to the island for one last shipwreck!
To my realm of dignity and there's no looking back
Don't want to be alone but I want to be free would you....

Dwell with me
We are free
Dwell with me
Dwell with me

Raindrops on my window of my lifeboat
Reflecting sparkles of light which resembles
The stars in the sky and blessings in disguise
The stars in the sky and blessings in disguise

Dwell with me

That's Richard Farnsworth you hear in the beginning and towards the end of the song. The clips are from David Lynch's "The Straight Story" which I believe to be his best film. I'm glad I watched this movie before this road trip I took to Texas, as it gave me an extra surge of courage before I left. Great film.

With over 30 years of songwriting, Brett Alexander Boye would like to think he's evolved and learned a thing or two. His music is an attempt to find deep meaning and truth within a bizarre world ruled by untruth. His solo albums do derive from a wide range of influences like The Church, David Bowie, Mark Knopfler, Rob Pollard, Sigur Ros and others but always seeks to create something original. ... more
